Young Innovations launches international logistics centre in Ireland – New general manager introduced

Heidelberg/Germany, September 26, 2023 – American dental group Young Innovations has established a new logistics centre in Ireland. The Dungarvan site will become a hub for international trade and the European market. “The excellent infrastructure allows us to expand the product range and deliver faster, which are ideal conditions for optimal support of our customers” emphasized Frank Whyte, Vice President and Managing Director of Young International, at the opening ceremony. Cormac Johnston was introduced as the new General Manager of Young Microbrush Ireland.

The group’s Microbrush brand has been present locally for 25 years. The branch was initially used as a factory and later as a warehouse. Since 2014, the premises and the portfolio have been steadily expanded and other brands have been added, like Young Dental, American Eagle Instruments, Pro-Matrix, Pro-Tip, Crystal Tips, Zooby and Denticator. The continuous growth required the expansion of capacity. The warehouse was enlarged and all buildings completely renovated. A reception area, new offices, a conference centre and a canteen were added to the site.

Young Innovations’ extensive portfolio can now be fully mapped and the diverse requirements for storing the high-quality goods are also easily met. Modern technology and software make the inventory transparent and speed up delivery to clinics and practices at home and abroad.

Frank Whyte thanked the energetic team as well as the previous General Manager, Mary O’Keeffe, who had been with Microbrush since 1998 and has now retired. Cormac Johnston was introduced as the new General Manager. The senior professional brings to the position many years of experience in quality and process management at international companies in the healthcare and biotech industries.

American Eagle Instruments® now available through multiple UK dental dealers

Heidelberg, January 24, 2023 – American Eagle Instruments® have been present in the UK for several years, and have experienced rapid growth. Due to the high demand it has now been decided to simplify the ordering process, and make the entire portfolio available through multiple British dental dealers. The instrument range includes instruments for diagnostics, prophylaxis, restoration, periodontics, implantology and endodontics, as well as instrument cassettes for efficient and hygienic reprocessing and storage. The market opening is celebrated with attractive special offers.

American Eagle was founded 75 years ago, joined the Young Innovations dental group in 2017, and specializes in the consistent manufacture of high-quality dental hand instruments. Frank Whyte, Managing Director of Young Innovations Europe, emphasizes: “American Eagle offers outstanding clinical solutions for dentists and patients and is well established internationally. UK customers will now also fully benefit from our expertise and the reliable distribution through dental dealers.”

American Eagle produces advanced premium products that offer practitioners efficient processes, economic progress and added ergonomic comfort. The company provides not only the stainless steel Talon ToughTM range, but also the patented XP Technology®, which eliminates the need to sharpen instruments. Sharpen-free XP Scalers, Curettes and Double Graceys keep their original form and function as the precise cutting edge design is retained for the life of the instrument. Sharpening stones are history. The user saves economically and can act more ergonomically since noticeably less force is needed.

Another innovation from American Eagle are the environmentally friendly and inexpensive Quik-TipTM prophylaxis instruments. The product line combines handles with exchangeable tips. In case of abrasive wear only the worn working end is replaced instead of the entire instrument. This sustainable system saves resources and reduces waste.

The American Eagle Composite instruments also have the revolutionary XP Technology® alloy, making composite-stick a thing of the past. The newly launched M5 Restorative Series also benefit from this especially smooth surface. The multifunctional set reduces the number of instruments required, as each instrument has two optimally coordinated working ends, which considerably simplifies and speeds up every procedure.

For professional implant cleaning, American Eagle has a convincing solution in its portfolio: The Implant Scalers and Curettes are made of medical-grade titanium, slightly softer than the implant´s titanium. Therefore mineralized deposits are removed particularly gently but effectively without scratching the implant´s surface.

The high-quality Galaxie instrument cassettes support the thorough cleaning, effective sterilization and precise organization of hand instruments. Their sturdy housing made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel protects the equipment, while the unique design reduces contact points. The laser-cut grid maximizes water flow and increases efficiency in the WD/thermal disinfector. Rounded edges and slotted corners accelerate drainage, reducing drying time. The ergonomic closure can be operated with one hand. The color-coded silicone rails can be individually arranged and are compatible with all common handle diameters. Available are DIN cassettes for twenty instruments, 1/2 DIN cassettes for ten instruments, and 1/4 DIN cassettes for five instruments.

For the UK launch special offers are available through retailers in January and February. There is a 4+1 promotion on diagnostic items, XP instruments, composite and M5 instruments, Double Graceys, implant products, Galaxie cassettes and a 20% discount on Quik-Tips.

Five for all situations

Heidelberg, August 22, 2022 – American Eagle is launching a new collection for composite restorations: The M5 Restorative Series features five instruments that impress with their particularly smooth surface thanks to the patented XP Technology® coating. The multifunctional set reduces the number of tools required, as each instrument has two optimally matched working ends, which considerably simplifies and speeds up all procedures.

The series was created in collaboration with Dr Anthony Mak, a multi-award-winning specialist in restorative dentistry who has also earned an excellent reputation through seminars and workshops. The instruments have a nano-optimised, extremely hard and scratch-resistant surface, therefore their precision is maintained even after intensive use. The ergonomic, well balanced handles are made of stainless steel.

The M5-Sculpt universal instrument is a true problem solver. It can be used to apply refined composite to anterior and posterior teeth and is an excellent choice for creating the tooth’s anatomy and layering in deep cavities.

The M5-Anterior is a very thin composite carver for layering, flattening and shaping in interproximal and gingival areas. The flexible working ends adapt to the curvature of the tooth. The blade covers the entire length of the tooth, which is particularly beneficial when placing and sculpting Class IV (anterior tooth)/veneer composite.

The M5-Pack for applying and packing composite in posterior teeth features a ball end and a flat-ended plugger. The composite does not roll over the plugger like on a ball burnisher. A larger amount of composite should be applied using only a ball burnisher.

The M5-Carve effectively removes interproximal material. The strong, unbreakable blades are 25% thinner and facilitate interproximal access without widening the contact area. Thanks to XP Technology®, the blades remain sharp for a particularly long time, making it easy to remove and cut the material at all times. The blades have ergonomic angles, granting easy access to all areas.

The M5-Mini rounds off the collection. The short, flat spatula is ideal for applying composite in hard-to-reach areas or packing composite in small spaces. Further information is available at www.am-eagle.de/en/m5-composite-instrument-series

Go Green with Young Innovations

Heidelberg, October 5, 2021 – Dental manufacturer Young Innovations is kicking off autumn with a “Go Green” campaign. The focus is on the American Eagle Quik-Tip portfolio.

The handles of the eco-friendly prophylaxis instruments are combined with exchangeable tips. This reduces waste, costs and conserves resources because only dull working ends are discarded instead of the entire instrument. The special design guarantees consistent quality at all times.

Take advantage of a great offer: Buy 10 Quik-Tips, trade in 10 old instruments and receive 4 new Quik-Tip Instruments free. The offer is valid for all XP Technology® and Talon ToughTM Quik-Tips until the end of November 2021.

Quik-Tip handles are available in three types and multiple colours, allowing customisation. This simplifies, for example, identification by room, user and area of application. Quik-Tips are available for scalers, curettes and Gracey Curettes, either with Talon ToughTM stainless steel or XP Technology®. The XP alloy makes the working ends extremely hard and resistant. They always retain their sharp cutting edges and don`t require resharpening. The Pro Thin option with extra fine tips guarantees optimal access to deep periodontal pockets and exceptionally gentle treatment.

All Quik-Tip attachments can be exchanged quickly using the accompanying tool. Complete instruments can be easily processed in the washer-disinfector. For more information about Quik-Tips, visit www.am-eagle.org

Implant care made easy with American Eagle

Heidelberg, 23 February 2021 – Fixed denture implants provide patients with enhanced quality of life. However, mucositis or peri-implantitis develops in up to 50 per cent of all implant cases, jeopardising the treatment’s success and potentially even leading to implant loss. Only optimal oral hygiene will maintain the health of the tissue around the implant over a long period of time. American Eagle is now presenting a collection of new instruments for professional implant cleaning.

Clean, smooth implant surfaces are significantly less susceptible to infection-causing biofilm. American Eagle Implant instruments thoroughly and, above all, gently remove soft and mineralised plaque. The instruments are made of medical grade titanium, which are currently the most biocompatible material for implants. This special titanium is softer than the implant, meaning that it leaves the surface undamaged. Other curettes often leave residues on the rough implant surface, which in turn promotes the development of peri-implant diseases.

To prevent scratching of the implant surface, all four American Eagle instruments have rounded working ends. Even the scalers are slightly rounded. Lightweight, ergonomic handles made of EagleLite® plastic reduce the stress on your hands. The 204S implant scaler, intended for the molar region, has a sharp angle to facilitate access. The N128/Langer 5 combination is a modified sickle scaler featuring a universal anterior curette for the upper and lower jaw. The Nebraska 128 tip is ideal for small, tight spaces and the circumference of the implant abutment. The Langer 3-4 universal curette replicates the shaft angle of the Gracey 13-14 and is a good choice for treating implant abutments in the molar or premolar region. A Barnhart 5-6 universal implant curette is also available. The implant instruments are available individually or as part of a set which includes a cassette. Contact us for your individual consultation at +49 (0) 6221 43 45 442.

Young Innovations takes over Astek

Heidelberg/Germany, October 6, 2020 – The American dental group Young Innovations has acquired the leading British dental manufacturer Astek and is now taking over the distribution of the product range. The medical portfolio of Astek Innovations includes well-known brands such as Pro-Matrix®, Pro-Tip®, Transform, Pegasus, inSafe, and Alma Prosthetic Instruments.

Currently, the hygienic disposable products from Astek are in particular demand because they help to control infection risks. For example, the ready to use disposable matrix system Pro-Matrix®, which does not require any tedious assembly and thus prevents injuries. The Pro-Matrix Curve range has a longer band for larger teeth and is precontoured to the tooth shape.

Effective infection control is also provided by the Pro-Tip® Turbo disposable tips for air/water syringes. The clean separation of air and water in two chambers and single use significantly reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Another major health risk are needlestick injuries. The inSafe system ensures effective protection from the preparation of the syringe to the disposal of the used needle. More information in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0WksJv02o4

Another ground-breaking innovation is the thermoplastically mouldable impression tray Transform, made of biodegradable material. It was developed for prosthetic, orthodontic and implant procedures. It can be anatomically shaped and individually fitted within seconds.

Young Innovations has acquired a double-digit number of dental companies over the last four years and successfully integrated them into the group. Further acquisitions in the core segment are planned for the future. At the same time, the impressive growth is also being accelerated by the continuous expansion of sales, particularly in Europe and North America.

Environmentally friendly into the future

Heidelberg, August 27, 2020 – The dental product range of Young Innovations is not only convincing in terms of quality and efficiency, the sustainability is also constantly being improved: The ecological footprint of the Microbrush® brand production plant has been significantly reduced via intelligent lighting, consistent shutdown of unused machines, and by recycling 45 tons of plastic resin waste per year. Now the proportion of plastic in all packaging is being gradually reduced.

First of all, the containers of the Microbrush® Plus applicators are receiving a makeover. For the dispenser kit and the refill pack of 400 pieces each, the foil and holders are being replaced with recycled cardboard, thus saving 8,000 kilos of plastic per year. The package size and content remain the same, as do the weight and the order number. The previous barcode will be replaced by the Global Trade Item Number GTIN. With this marking, goods can be identified and traced worldwide, which further increases product safety.

Microbrush® applicators are ideally suited for applying a wide variety of materials during dental treatment, such as cement, bonding and etching agents, sealing and staining solutions. They have a rigid tip and a flexible neck for precise placement of substances in hard-to-reach areas. The brush head, made out of lint-free nylon fibres, absorbs liquid until it is applied, ensuring maximum control.

Save time and money with American Eagle

Heidelberg, June 23, 2020 – Finally every dental practice can easily determine, how much money is wasted on sharpening instruments: The required time per week and the hourly wage are entered on the website www.am-eagle.org/sharpening_calculator, the online tool then evaluates the expenses incurred each year.

In a second step, the financial benefits of switching to sharpen-free American Eagle XP instruments can be discovered. These scalers and curettes retain the shape and functionality throughout their lifetime and are always ready with original sharp cutting edges. The therapist can therefore noticeably reduce the physical effort and act more ergonomically. Thanks to XP Technology®, sharpening stones are history and time can now be used more productively.

The effort to resharpen the equipment is often underestimated, but the procedure requires considerable experience, patience and the proper technique. The instruments must be aligned and fixed, and a gage is needed to maintain the correct sharpening angle. To avoid facets and ensure a perfect working edge every detail must be checked with a magnifying glass.

Moreover, resharpened instruments along with substance also lose their ideal shape which is no longer comparable with the original design. This shortens the lifespan of the instruments, because it degrades their performance or they even become entirely useless and must be replaced. For more information on XP Technology® from American Eagle please visit www.am-eagle.de/en/xp-technology
